You may be repeating patterns and not know why

Many people reach a point where the same inner reactions keep showing up. You may want to respond differently, but something inside you pulls you back into familiar ways of thinking, feeling, or behaving.

You may feel frustrated, stuck, or unsure where to begin. You may sense that growth or healing is possible, but you do not yet know how to access it.

This is not a personal failure. These patterns have purpose. They are carried by parts of you that learned how to protect you in earlier environments, and they often remain active long after they are needed.

Inner work becomes possible when you feel supported and safe

Most of us were never taught how to explore our inner world with compassion. Instead, we learned to push through, override, minimize, or avoid what we feel inside.

When parts feel alone or pressured, they tighten their grip on familiar strategies. Change rarely comes from force.

Inner exploration unfolds more smoothly when you feel grounded, supported, and at choice. It becomes more accessible in a steady group environment where nothing has to be fixed or forced, and where you do not have to do this alone.

What makes a True You Group different

True You Groups are small, IFS-informed coaching groups designed to help you explore your inner world with clarity and compassion.

Each session follows a consistent structure that helps the group feel steady and predictable. You will see one participant receive an IFS Coaching Spotlight, and you will have your own time for guided inner exploration.

These groups are not therapy. They are not traditional coaching. They offer a thoughtful blend of structure, pacing, and compassionate guidance that helps parts feel safe enough to soften.

Each session includes:

  • time to check in with your parts

  • one Coaching Spotlight

  • a guided exercise inspired by the spotlight

  • space for your own inner work

  • clear group agreements

  • choice about how much you participate

Why this work happens in groups

My earliest experiences of groups were not safe. I learned to hide, manage impressions, and protect others in order to survive. Those patterns followed me into adulthood without my awareness.

Over time, recovery groups, therapy groups, professional groups, and personal development communities showed me something different. I learned that groups can be steady, supportive, and grounding. They can help people explore their inner world without pressure or judgment.

My work as a coach and my understanding of the IFS model helped me see why this matters. Groups shape us. They always have. And when designed with care, they can help us reconnect with parts of ourselves that learned to stay hidden.

True You Groups are the result of decades of participating in, leading, and learning from groups. They are designed to offer the safety, clarity, and compassion that many people are looking for when they begin this work.

What it feels like to be in a True You Group

Participants often describe the groups as grounding, supportive, gentle, and steady.

You are always at choice about how much you share or participate. The group is small enough that you do not disappear, and consistent enough that your system gradually feels safer each time you show up.

Many people find that observing a Coaching Spotlight is as meaningful as being in it themselves. The guided exercise that follows often brings insight and relief in unexpected ways.

Over time, participants report feeling clearer inside, more connected to their parts, and more capable of responding to inner reactions with compassion.

  • “This group feels like a home base. There’s a real sense of community and no judgment, so everything is okay to share and talk about. When I first came in, I had a lot of internal critics and firefighters. Being here has helped me quiet my mind and have more compassion for those parts as I work toward healthier ways of coping.”
    – Eileen H.

  • “Being in this group helps me feel calm and gives me hope. I’m becoming more curious and even appreciative of my inner critics instead of just fighting them. Being able to bring all of myself here and not fear judgment is a really big deal for me.”
    – Anne J.

  • “I’ve always felt safer one-on-one than in groups, and group spaces used to bring up a lot of fear for me. Something about doing IFS work in this group has been really new and healing. Nobody is coming to ‘rescue’ me, and at the same time there’s a lot of unconditional positive regard. That balance feels like magic and has helped my anxiety and that old ‘heart-pounding’ feeling ease up.”
    – Laine

  • “I’ve learned so much about myself in this group, especially how to soothe my inner critic when it starts to loom large. The group is so kind, loving, and compassionate. Bill as the facilitator is really good at helping us learn compassion for ourselves and our parts, and I want to keep learning more of that.”
    – Meg C.

  • “The True You Group helped me understand my inner reactions with far more compassion and clarity. Being part of a supportive group, and having time in the coaching spotlight, gave me insight and grounding that I couldn’t have reached on my own.”

    -Jonathan M

  • “Participating in the True You Group helped me slow down and listen to what was really happening inside. I gained clarity, self-compassion, and practical ways to respond differently instead of repeating old patterns.”

    -Walt L

  • “This group offers incredibly deep, effective work. Bill’s pacing, clarity, and compassion help me learn so much about myself and my clients. The experience continues to expand my emotional access and understanding.”

    -Meg C

  • “Bill creates a deeply welcoming, safe space. His guidance helped me understand my internal system in a clear, meaningful way, especially the difference between managers, firefighters, and exiles. The group has been transformative.”

    -Anne J

  • “Working with Bill gave me a completely new outlook on myself and my inner experience. His approach helped me stop searching for what was ‘wrong’ with me and start understanding myself with compassion.”

    Walt Lofstrom

  • “The True You Group helped me understand the patterns behind my reactions, especially in relationships and communication. Whether in the coaching spotlight or observing others, I gained insight into how my thoughts shape my responses. Bill’s intuitive, responsive leadership made the group feel deeply supportive.”
